Glenn St. Clair, GEM's president, was born and raised on a farm in Wisconsin. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering, he went to work for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, eventually becoming it's director of worldwide technical services. While with Cummins he first earned an MBA degree, then a PhD in industrial management. After 28 years with Cummins and a brief stint teaching business at Andrews University in Michigan, he served 8 years in Sierra Leone, West Africa, as Administrator of Masanga Leprosy Hospital and country director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. He then served an additional four years as ADRA's country director in Nepal. Presently retired except for his work with GEM, St. Clair is the father of 5 grown children and lives in Michigan with his wife Jerre.

David Grellmann, GEM's founder, is an urgent care and family practice physician in South Bend, Indiana. He also holds degrees in religion and public health. The son of missionary parents, he grew up in Africa and Canada. For five years he worked at Masanga Leprosy Hospital in Sierra Leone, West Africa. In addition to his hospital duties, he directed TB and leprosy control efforts in two of the country's provinces, and established Masanga's TB unit. Grellmann lives in Michigan with his wife Carrie and three children.

Martin Fishell, co-founder and treasurer of GEM, is a retired CPA who owned his own public accounting business in Michigan for forty years. Over the years he has volunteered his skills to a variety of non-profit groups. This included international travel while serving as auditor for various church-related mission organizations. He has been on the ground floor in the establishment of several non-profit corporations including "Your Story Hour" radio program, Maranatha Volunteers International, and the pioneering Adventist Frontier Missions where he was treasurer for many years and is now director of planned giving and trust services. Fishell is the father of two grown children and lives with his wife Irene in Michigan.

David Steen is a long time educator and research scientist who chairs the Biology Department at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI. As an avid computer user, he serves on GEM's board, records minutes, and helps to maintain Gem's web site. Having grown up in Ethiopia as the son of a missionary physician who started a hospital in Gimbie, Steen has some experience in third world countries. Recently he returned to Ethiopia with his father and other family members to dedicate a new Gimbie hospital, now operated by Adventist Health International. He and his wife Lynn have two grown children and three grandsons.
